Celebrating the commitment of thematic channels to innovation and top-quality programming!

The shortlist of channels nominated for the HOT BIRD™ TV Awards 2009 has now been finalised!
With a record number of 150 channels entered from 20 countries, this year’s event shows the exceptional vigour and commitment of broadcasters to addressing the specific interests and passions of the viewing public.

Thematic channels reaching even higher levels of performance and quality
The International Jury of journalists and media experts drawing up the shortlist met for three days to judge content, programming ideas and technology trends driving thematic television.
The Jury nominated a shortlist in each of this year’s thematic categories:

Children’s – Cinema – Culture/Education – Documentaries – Fiction – HDTV – Lifestyle – Music – National Window – News – Sports.

If your channel has not been nominated by the jury, it is still fully eligible to win the People’s Choice Award!

Initiated four years ago, this popular Award is given to the channel that receives the highest number of votes from viewers.

The People’s Choice Award will be promoted on the HOT BIRD™ TV Awards, Eutelsat and Eurovisioni websites, as well as the website of Lyngsat, the most popular source of satellite television data in Europe.

You also have the possibility to publicise this award through the People’s Choice banner, which you are encouraged to post and promote on your own website.

The winners of this year’s event, including the People’s Choice, will be announced on 20 November at a gala ceremony called the “Night of Satellites”, which will be held in Venice at the prestigious “Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista”.

We would like to thank you again for supporting the HOT BIRD™ TV Awards, the only event highlighting the importance of thematic programming in today’s multi-channel environment.

We hope you can join us in Venice so we can collectively celebrate the continuing commitment of thematic broadcasters to innovation and top-quality programming.
