The HOT BIRD Tv Awards

Created in 1998 as joint initiative by Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, and Eurovisioni, a leading organiser of audiovisual events,
the HOT BIRDTM TV Awards aims to promote the quality and originality of satellite-delivered thematic television channels broadcast by Eutelsat’s satellites.

The HOT BIRDTM TV Awards are the only pan-European award to recognise the quality and diversity of thematic satellite television channels.

FROM THE NOMINATIONS TO THE AWARDS

the HOT BIRDTM TV Awards are divided into two phases: shortlisting of three candidates for each category by a jury (the Nominations), and the announcement of the winning Award for each category (the Awards).

The international jury consists of media journalists who are experts in evaluating the quality of today’s rich television broadcasting environment.
As such, by applying their analytical and critical faculties to new satellite channels, they represent a kind of ‘critical conscience’ and a ‘guide’ for European TV viewers.

The nominations will take place in the Villa Piccolomini in Rome, from 9 to 11 September 2005.

The Award ceremony will take place in Turin, host city of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games of which Eutelsat is an Official Sponsor.

The winners of the HOT BIRDTM TV Awards are given bronze statues representing the goddess Gea which are scale copies of the statue-symbol of Eutelsat and are designed by the Vicenza-based sculptor Nereo Quagliato.
